Mike Lofgren is one of the lucky few who always knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. He began as a carpenter’s helper in high school and never looked back. He worked various construction jobs around the DC area while furthering his education with college courses in architectural drawing, blueprint reading, etc. Mike gained experience in all phases of home remodeling, new home construction, and some commercial work as well. By 1982 he was a lead carpenter running a framing crew for a new home builder and in 1983 he began working for Donald Rozansky Inc. It was with Rozansky that Mike became a project supervisor and learned all aspects of high end remodeling and custom homes. After further experience developing luxury homes, he launched Lofgren construction in 1987.
Mike has three grown children and one grandson. In his free time, Mike can be found at the gym, the pool, or playing guitar and singing. Check your local listings to catch a performance!
Sharon (O’Connell) Lofgren was born in Massachusetts and spent her youth bouncing around the country as the daughter of Naval officers. The family settled in the DC area in the 70’s, and other than attending college at the University of Michigan, Sharon has remained in Maryland ever since. Sharon spent several years in bookkeeping and administration with Hudson Trail Outfitters, and then with Myer-Emco in the 1980’s. During that time she took continuing education classes at Montgomery College in accounting and business in preparation for the founding of Lofgren Construction Co. She has been responsible for the administrative side of the business since its inception in 1987.
Sharon spends a great deal of time with her three grown children, and loves being a grandma to her only grandson. When she is not processing the paperwork, she is tending her gardens, horses and dogs. Though her first love is eventing, she is currently competing her off the track Thoroughbred at 2nd level dressage.
Chris is a Bethesda native who began his career in marine construction on the Outer Banks. After his return to the DC area he enjoyed a brief stint installing commercial doors and hardware before transitioning to residential construction. For the last 24 years of his 35 year career, Chris has been a Superintendent with Lofgren Construction Company.
Chris enjoys the collaboration with architects, design professionals and homeowners that is necessary to bring difficult projects to a successful conclusion. Many of his clients have done multiple projects with LCC, and we continue to provide ongoing maintenance and minor improvements to their homes.
Chris has been married to Karen, a talented local kitchen designer, for 23 years and they have two adult children. In his spare time Chris enjoys golf and “recreational” carpentry at his own home.
Umberto is a native of Florence, Italy who moved to the DC area as a teenager. Upon his high school graduation, Umberto served four years as a Navy Seal in Vietnam. Upon his return to civilian life, Umberto spent time in construction in Florida, ran his own mechanic shop, and did independent contracting in the 1980’s and 90’s. He joined the crew of Lofgren Construction Co. in 1996.
Umberto loves bossing his work crews, loudly, and in three languages, in order to make our customers happy. Umberto has a roster of happy clients who return to us again and again for all of their construction needs.
Umberto has been married to Lori for 32 years, during which they have raised 5 children, 7 grandchildren (so far), and numerous horses, dogs, and cats. In his free time, Umberto loves to bow hunt, fish, and is an avid boater.
